Lewis Falls
Lewis Falls
As we drove south through Yellowstone National Park, heading for the south entrance, we passed Lewis Lake and then crossed a bridge and saw this waterfall which we weren't expecting, so we pulled into the pullout and I grabbed my camera gear. It was close to sunset, so exposures were going to be long, so I decided to bracket shots and maybe combine them later with and HDR program. Using my 24mm lens, I took shots +/- 1 stop around 6 seconds at f/22, ISO 100. I used ExpoBlending under Linux to do the combineThis is the middle image of the three used in the above HDR combine. The improvements are not all that obvious in this case, but the next image did well with the HDR combine.
From the same location, I switched to my 10mm fisheye and took three exposures with a 1 stop bracket centered at 1/6 second at f/2.8, ISO 100.
I set up at the north end of the bridge over Lewis River and took an HDR set of exposures with my 75-300mm lens at 90mm focal length, bracketed by 1 stop centered on 5 seconds at f/11, ISO 400.

Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr | About Me Today is my birthday. I turned 27 today at 10:34am. Since the day I turned 20, my life has gotten itself caught up in a hurry, I can't seem to slow it down no matter what I do. In the past 7 years, all I've seemed to accumulate is memories rather than substance; my situation is very much the same now as it was back then. So with each passing year, I'm terrified of my own birthday. I never celebrate it, but look on it as a step closer to 30 and thus something to be feared. Basically I have 'the fear'. Anyway, this is Amy and she's great. Glasgow, 2012

The Infamous Tornado Photo [08.14.12] - 22 Aug 2012 - Flickr
The photo was taken with Ryan Burkett strapped to the trailer to get a rolling shot of John Norris' Chevy S10. L.b. was driving the truck pulling the trailer. Usually I do a few behind the scenes shots and post them up to my personal Facebook account. I edited the photo and remembered that yesterday there was a Tornado Watch out for where I live.. we didn't exactly go out and shoot at the most perfect time; raining, windy, and thunder/lighting all around us. But we needed to get this photo done and the storm was moving off in the distance. With all that, I thought it would be funny to photoshop a tornado in the background... purely for shits and giggles. I didn't know that this photo would blow up and be posted on many Automotive Facebook Fan Pages, especially since it was on my personal Facebook only. I only did this for some laughs from my friends... I actually thought it was a very poor photoshop. This photo had thousands of views and 'Likes' on Facebook. After several inquiries for wallpaper sized downloads, I decided to upload this photo to Flickr. Enjoy. *Note: The road had little to no traffic. ISO 500 1/25th ƒ/7.1 35mm Andrew H Wagner (C)2012. I am trying to push myself to take pictures even when I don't feel entirely up to it. This is branched from my picture Freeing. This could be the opposite. The fall possibly? You can interpret it however you want. I can't believe it's already been a year since I bought my pro account. Time really needs to slow down. Everything is flying by. On another note, Special thanks to Sophia for the uplifting testimonial.

Day 191: Stop - 19 Aug 2012 - Flickr
I sometimes feel held back by something not entirely of my own making. I watch the world go by, zipping along and off to do something fun, interesting or useful while I sit there at the stop sign waiting for my turn. I may feel like that at work sometimes, but then most people feel like that at some point too. When things aren't moving or I want them to move or I feel held back. Am I really being held back though? Am I just waiting at the stop sign and it's my turn to go. And when I do go, just how fast am I going to go and how hard will I drive? But beyond following the traffic rules, I am not one of those people who just stops and if you are one of the other 365'ers, then you aren't one of those people who are "stopped" either. This was ranked as 2 in explore and has not dropped off yet, but it may later.

Colours of a day - 17 Aug 2012 - Flickr
People observe the colors of a day only at its beginnings and its ends, but to me it's quite clear that a day merges through a multitude of shades and intonations, with each passing moment. A single hour can consist of thousands of different colors. Waxy yellows, cloud-spat blues. Murky darknesses. In my line of work, I make it a point to notice them. Gymnosoma sp. (Diptera, Tachinidae) couple. Body size: 6 mm. Yet another common Tachinid species for a good early morning fun. I found them in this situation and thought they are still enough and motionless. After finishing the sequence realized the significant movement of the female's antennae. Luckily, I could resolve it in the stacking program, using 2-3 frames from the whole stack. Find some details in the comment below! Natural light stack taken from 54 exposures with the MP-E65 lens at 2.2x magnification, f/4.5, 0.5 sec., ISO-100, slightly cropped. View larger!
